Sridevi & Rishi Kapoor to launch music of Chaar Din Ki Chandni

One of the highlights of Samir Karnik's forthcoming film Chaar Din Ki Chandni about love, courtship, ched-chaad, shaadi naach-gana and band-baaja-baraat is a remixed version of the title song from Yash Chopra's 1989 romantic blockbuster Chandni.

'Chandni O Meri Chandni' was sung by Sridevi and Jolly Mukherjee, and filmed on 'Chandni' Sridevi and her screen-suitor Rishi Kapoor. It went on to become a runaway hit.

Now, in what appears to be a master-stroke of nostalgic homage, director Karnik has managed to get the original Chandni pair Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor to release the music of Chaar Din Ki Chandni at a suburban hotel in Mumbai on Wednesday evening.

Rishi and Sridevi who were paired in the blockbusters Nagina and Chandni have not come together since they were paired last in the flop Kaun Sacha Kaun Jhootha in 1997. Rishi and Sridevi are expected to do a jig to the tune of 'Chandni O Meri Chandni ' on Wednesday evening. Rishi seems to be in quite a jiggy mood these days, in spite of his knee injury. At David Dhawan's son Rohit's sangeet ceremony before the wedding in Goa, he pulled his wife Neetu out of her seat and they both danced to some of their evergreen R.D. Burman hits.

Sri, of course, continues to be shy of public appearances.

More interesting than the Chandni pair being reunited is the behind-the-scenes maneuverings to bring them together.

Apparently, both Rishi and specially Sridevi were shy about a reunification for the music release of Chaar Din Ki Chandni. They initially declined to grace the function, until Jeetendra, a close buddy of Rishi and Sridevi's most trusted and long-lasting co-star, intervened.

Says a source, "Jeetendra convinced Sri and Chintu to make this rare together appearance for his son's sake. Tusshar is the romantic lead in Chaar Din Ki Chandni. For the boy's sake the Chandni pair agreed to come together."

Interestingly, the song 'Chandni O Meri Chandni' originally from the film Chandni, has been shot in Karnik's film like a Jeetendra-Sridevi number Nainon Mein Sapna from Himmatwala. Hence, Jeetendra's interest in the song is not just parental but also personal.

Confirming the Sridevi-Rishi jodi's scheduled togetherness for Wednesday, director Samir Karnik said, "It's an honour to have them as a part of my film. The song is a tribute to their magic. Thanks to Jeetuji, both Rishiji and Srideviji have confirmed their presence."
