While girls were going cra y over Aamir, he was smitten by the numero uno actress of that time, Sridevi. He didn't shy away form publicly declaring his admiration for her.

"Sridevi should be the heroine in all my films. I'm in love with her. I would love to do a Summer of '42 with her. I wonder if I will ever get the chance."
