Sridevi confirms Balki's Next! Indian Actress on a roll after English Vinglish's super success

The last of the female superstars of Hindi cinema - Sridevi, who proved that she still had a lot more acting left in her with her critically acclaimed performance in English Vinglish - was in the capital to do her bit for women empowerment.

Driven to the plush Lodhi hotel in a cab chauffeured by a woman driver, the actress was left impressed. Just like her reel character Shashi in English Vinglish, who empowers herself, Sridevi was all for women taking brave steps and making their place in the world.

The actress, who left fans wanting for more, admitted that she was waiting for a good project to come by. Something that she believed in and knew she could do justice to. But weren't husband Boney Kapoor and filmmaker R Balki both asking her to star in their projects? So, who had she signed up with? Sridevi said, "R Balki, but it's early days to discuss the project."

Would we see her reprise her Mr India act once more? Sridevi said, "Yes, but that's in the offing. First we are working on the sequel to No Entry, Mr India would be post that."

And as remixes and versions of her old numbers hit the airwaves, what does the actress - who is often called the Meryl Streep of India have to say. "It's great fun to watch these numbers," she said.

A career which spanned three decades and sharing space with the leading lights of cinema like NT Rama Rao, A Nageshwar Rao, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan - who is that one actor she would like to work with amongst the new crop.

"They are all very good, I enjoyed Vicky Donor and Barfi. Ranbir was amazing," Sridevi said.

When asked about the one role she is looking play on the big screen, Sridevi replied, "Mother India."

Though Kamal Haasan put to rest rumours surrounding a Sadma 2, the actress agreed that they had done their bit with Sadma and there was no need to do a sequel.

Though many feel that the Padma Shri came years too late for Sridevi, the actress said she was overwhelmed by the love and support of her fans.

Graceful and elegant, she truly seems to be the star for all seasons.
