Nazrana [Insight] was released in 1987 after the tragic demise of Smita Patil and was dedicated to her. Directed by Ravi Tandon (father of Raveena Tandon), the film stars Rajesh Khanna, Smita Patil and Sridevi in the lead roles, Shafi Inamdar, Priti Sapru and Dalip Tahil in supporting roles. Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The dubbed voice of Sridevi is slightly jarring for her fans and if you watch the film closely, Sri's weight fluctuates as the movie was shot over a long period of time. With stalwarts like Rajesh Khanna (and his stylised acting) and legendary actress Smita Patil, Sridevi provided the oomph and glamour to the movie, along with her trademark dancing abilities. Not one to be underestimated, in each of the dramatic scenes, young Sridevi held her ground and ended up being the most memorable part of the film. The movie went through many ups and downs - in particular when Patil passed away before its release and the cast and crew pulled together to complete the film.
We recently saw the film over the weekend and the melodrama and mystery holds up well. Sridevi's just gorgeous in the film. As usual.
