Joshilaay started off with ace director Shekhar Kapur at its helm - and then he walked out half-way or some such drama occurred in this poor re-hash of Sholay.
The movie is not bad, a curry western of sorts. It has three great dances by Sridevi, including the amazing Dhola dhol, Dharm dhamchak lag gayee and Dhak dhak jiya kare - a memorable number with Meenakshi Sheshadiri (an excellent dancer - possibly one of Bollywood's best) and Sridevi.
A dancer friend of our pointed out - look for the single long shot Sridevi does in Dhar dhamchak lag gayee. A difficult number she does with pure ease and elegance.

Below: Rare clip of Sunny Deol on the sets of Joshilay in 1984 - the film released after endless delay in 1989. Much was written about the film's endless and costly production hassles.
Excerpt: Filmdom's costliest mismanaged film? The director is confused... the script is being constantly rewritten... the cameraman has left in disgust.
