Nepo Baby Ekta Kapoor with her superstar father Jeetendra and newcomer to Bollywood, young Sridevi!

A major throwback, eight-year-old Ekta Kapoor, first-born of Bollywood superstar Jeetendra seen here on stage with Sridevi, 20, during the celebration of the silver jubilee of the Hindi film Himmatwala (1983).

Ekta Kapoor has proved herself to be a television titan, easily one of the smartest and business savvy women ruling networks. Her critics-and my there are aplenty of those-be damned as nothing succeeds like success. The handful of critics are no match for the TRP ratings as nearly every household across the nation of a billion is watching a show that traces back its origins to the office and mind of young Ms Kapoor.

Have always been a fan of Ekta's take-no-prisoners approach to interviews and taking critics head on, retaliating fire with fire. At her level of success and Rolls Royce chauffeur driven lifestyle, a few naysayers are not damaging her career.

Ekta Kapoor remembers Sridevi on Women's Day

Women’s day is every day! But today, I’ll remember a woman who gave me a childhood joy like no other. I lost touch with her when I grew up but the fat child in me had a silent approval of India’s first female superstar.

My mom will always be my biggest hero but this women’s day is for that hero who first showed me "Strong women support women"( even if she is much younger) #ripsridevi #ladysuperstar #WomensDay

Pati, Patni aur Sridevi: Shobha Kapoor, Sridevi and Jeetendra: Stamping out rumours in one sweep

Typical of the Bollywood tabloids, there was much speculation on Sridevi and Jeetendra's off-screen relationship in the early 1980s. The awesome twosome were doing innumerable films together so the idiotic tabloid press started spreading baseless rumours. But it was all smoke, no fire.

To douse the gossip, innuendo and nuge-nudge-wink-wink that was floating about, Jeetendra did a photo-shoot in his house, for Cine Blitz magazine with his off-screen partner and on-screen; wife Shobhaa Kapoor and actress Sridevi.

The troubles began harmlessly enough. Jeetendra was so effusive in his compliments of Sridevi that people started suspecting trouble-in-paradise, the martial home. None of it was true. Shobhaa Kapoor then and even now, says Sridevi is a wonderful person and laid rumours to rest. Sridevi said her only friends in the Hindi film industry were Jeetendra and wife Shobhaa and she was infuriated by the unnecessary and torrid speculation. It started the suspcion Sridevi had for all Mumbai, essentially film tabloid, press that persisted till the end.

Also need to note, Jeetendra's eldest daughter, now television and film producer, Ekta Kapoor, was/is a massive Sridevi fan. She famously told a magazine editor that once, someone in her school bitched up to her and said, 'So your father's having an affair with Sridevi!' Ekta Kapoor, a legendary spitfire, shot back, 'Yeah, my father is. Your father can only dream about it.'

Lols.
Bless her.

Kareena Kapoor fans out at Sridevi: Plans a dance tribute to her "all-time favourite actress": Feb 2011

Kareena's always been a vocal fan of Sridevi and did a decent (though not brilliant #tbh) tribute to Sridevi at the Balaji awards show. Bless her for trying.

It's easy to match steps but she paled in comparison to Srdevi's legendary grace and expressions. For the awards show, this report was released in the tabloid Mid-day.

Karenna Kapoor's tribute to Sridevi

Kareena Kapoor agreed to perform to a medley of Sridevi's hit songs at an awards function because the soap queen [Ekta Kapoor] requested her to do so. Kareena Kapoor has only agreed to do one tribute so far to her own sister, Karisma Kapoor, at an award function a couple of years ago. A little convincing by her best friend, Ekta Kapoor, however, has made her agree to perform to Sridevi's songs as a tribute to her at Balaji's Global Indian Film & TV Honours (GIFTH).

Says a source close to Kareena, "She will be performing to a medley of Sridevi's hit songs at GIFTH. Sridevi will be present there. Kareena will perform to songs like Morni bagamaa bole, Mere haatho mein nau nau chudiyaan hain and Hawa hawai among many others. She has handpicked and selected the songs herself."

"Normally, Kareena doesn't pay tributes to other actors but likes to dance to her own songs. When Ekta came and met her and explained the concept of how she wanted B-Town's reigning queen (Kareena) to pay a tribute to another reigning queen of the previous generation (Sridevi), Kareena couldn't refuse."

Kareena will also be dancing on Nainon mein sapna, which featured Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor's father Jeetendra along with Sridevi.

Manish Malhotra, who used to design for Sridevi, is also designing for Kareena for the show.

Said Ekta, "Sridevi is iconic. This generation has no idea about her fan following. Sridevi was a darling of the masses, like Kareena is today! I find Kareena and Sridevi very similar filmi heroines with whom the masses instantly connect too. 20 years ago, Kareena would have been a worthy competitor to Sridevi as would Sridevi to Kareena today. They share the same bubbliness and mass connect. I have watched their films Himmatwala and Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and been witness to the mass hysteria of their audience.

I have never seen this kind of mass reaction for any other actress. Kareena is the perfect person to pay a tribute to Sridevi. Who wouldn't want to see Kareena dance to Sridevi's hits?" she added.

Kareena said, "I'm a big fan of Sridevi and have grown up watching her films. I'm very excited and humbled to be performing to her songs. It is an honour and I feel proud to step into her shoes."

Ekta Kapoor with Sridevi: TV magnate as a child with the most famous Indian actress ever.

Before she turned into a TV media Moghul, Ekta Kapoor, Jeetendra's eldest daughter, was Sridevi's biggest fan.

Chubby and cute, she's professed her love for Sridevi for years and years. Bless her.

Tushar Kapoor says,, "I was a die-hard Rekha loyalist; in fact, it was my sister Ekta who was a big Sridevi fan. From day one, she was like, 'Sridevi is my kind of idol.'

These rare pics of Sridevi with little Ekta at a film function. Lovely to see Sridevi smile ear to ear.
