Sridevi talks about Katrina Kaif

Today, July 16 is Katrina Kaif's birthday. On that note, a quote on Katrina Kaif by Sridevi. Katrina was a huge Sridevi fan - as we've archived in this blog (scroll through the archives here).

TBT: Sridevi appreciated Katrina Kaif

Sridevi had a lot of love for Katrina Kaif and appreciated her staggering achievements. From her interview with India Today in 2013,

"But she reserves an extra dose of praise for Katrina Kaif. "Her achievements are all the more remarkable considering she did not know Hindi or indeed any Indian language when she started her career. I at least knew Tamil and Telugu when I arrived in Bollywood."

Katrina Kaif picks Sridevi's Chaalbaaz

In a recent interview, Katrina Kaif cherry-picked Sridevi's iconic (and award-winning) role in Chaalbaaz as something she'd like to try and do. Hmm.

We are not denying Ms Kaif's stupendous success at the box-office nor her surprisingly competent performance in Zero, but the range Sri showcased in Chaalbaaz is no child's play. She may have made it look easy but it was anything but.

As any cine critic will tell you, Sridevi's talents were abundant and even after nearly 250+ films, there was much more to go. Sadly, she left instead.

Katrina Kaif; Famous Fan of Sridevi fans out on stage

Katrina Kaif took to the stage and spoke eloquently about her admiration for the legendary Indian actress, Sridevi. It may be easy and dismissive to say that Katrina Kaif said it in the heat of the moment, but as our archive shows, Katrina Kaif has always been a Sridevi fan (not unlike famed co-star Salman Khan - also a famous Sridevi fan!).

When Sridevi gave Katrina the Zee Cine Award for the Best International Icon (Female) award at the recent Zee Awards, Kaif said, “Well I think first and most importantly, it`s a huge honour to get any award from Sridevi. It`s a huge honour to stand next to her and I think this year honestly belongs to you [Sridevi]... So to receive this award from Sridevi and from you [Boney Kapoor] is seriously a great honour. Thank you Zee and thank you everyone for this award… thank you very much.”

Katrina Kaif: Singing in the rain with Sridevi. Celina Jaitley fans out at Sridevi too!

Bollywood divas list their favourite rain songs.

Katrina Kaif

"It’s from Chaalbaaz, Na jaane kahan se aayi hai. It was a treat to watch Sridevi go about tramp like and sing unaware of the rain. Though Sunny Deol and a whole lot of extras were dancing in the song, it solely belonged to Sridevi."

Celina Jaitley

"I love the song Mera mann tarsa re pani kyon barsa re from Lamhe. It's the opening song of the film and Sridevi looks so gorgeous."
