Released on 1 March 1986, Naan Adimai Illai was Sridevi's penultimate Tamil film. She returned to Tamil cinema 29 years later in 2015, in the (awful!) film Puli.

Sridevi looked and acted well in this melodrama, but the average box-office instigated Sridevi to concentrate on her sky-rocketing Bollywood career. She constantly worked in Telugu films (better money, prominent roles) without taking a break - and those films often released across the southern region so she wasn't missed by her core fans.

UPDATE: Thanks to fans who pointed it out, all these photos are of Sridevi and Rajinikanth from Sridevi's penultimate Tamil film Naan Adimai Illai (1986).

Shot in a film studio, Jaya Prada was shooting for another film next door - and she dropped by to say hello to her frequent co-stars.

Naan Adimai Illai was Sridevi's penultimate appearance in a Tamil film before her long hiatus. She later returned to Tamil films as the evil Queen in Puli (2015).

Paired with her frequent co-star, superstar Rajinikanth, the two Tamil film icons gave fine performances in Naan Adimai Illai (1986) but, sadly, the movie had a rather tepid response at the box-office.  This is obviously before fans of Thalaivar turned into fanatics! As the images reveal, Sridevi looked oh-so-pretty in the family melodrama.
