Sridevi at Chiranjeevi's birthday celebrations hosted by the Telugu Film Industry at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. Sridevi was warmly greeted by the crowds as the stunning actress looked as gorgeou as ever. Sridevi arrived with her film producer husband Boney Kapoor, greeted her Telugu film colleagues and met up with her erstwhile co-star of superhit films, Amitabh Bachchan, who flew in to celebrate Chiranjeevi as well.

TBT: Sridevi with Rekha, Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan

For an epic 'Throwback Thursday', we're looking at a Filmfare award show where all the stars - whether they were nominated or not, knew they were going to win or not - attended to support their film fraternity. Seems an era (and many PR managers and marketing teams-) ago!

Let's take you back on this nostalgic trip. 'twas the year when Black took the grand haul of all the awards - deservedly so. The 51st Filmfare Awards took place on 25 February 2006 at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, hosted by dancer and some-time actor Javed Jaffrey. Stale jokes and god-awful puns were there too; it seems like a signature of all Indian award shows where the scripted comedy is just ridiculously awful, with sharp cutaways to recorded laughs in audio and visuals. 

It was the defining year where Sanjay Leela Bhansali's gorgeous film took in all the top-tier trophies; Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, to no one's surprise and for a change, no one was upset about it either as it was one of the rare films that was universally loved. 
  
However, for Bollywood fans, backstage of the Filmfare award show was were all the drama and divas were. Sridevi, in 2006 was still in her self-imposed hiatus; Judaai was back in 1997 and English Vinglish wasn't even conceived. 

With her eldest daughter (and ever-present Boney Kapoor), Sri arrived looking slim and svelte in a bodacious black gown. Sridevi strutted across the stage to give out the Best Actor trophy to Amitabh Bachchan. In the green room backstage, la devi met up with her southern superstar supremo screen-sisters (we do love alliteration for no reason here!); Rekha and Hema Malini.

The rare, rare, rare picture was captured for Filmfare magazine. Just when you thought that the star alignment couldn't be topped, Bachchan Snr joined in to say hello to the grande dames of Bollywood.

Sridevi and Boney Kapoor at Dr T Subbarami Reddy's party (2006)

After Judaai, Sridevi was rarely seen at movie events but she would turn up for parties hosted by Dr T Subbarami Reddy - whose family has been friends with Sridevi for years. Dr T Subbarami Reddy was also co-producer of some films Sridevi starred in (including the memorable Lamhe).

Singer Suneeta Rao (of Pari hoon main fame) and former Miss World Yukta Mookhey (1999) fanned out at Sridevi and grabbed a picture with her.

Later, Sridevi and Shahrukh Khan presented producer/director Yash Chopra an award for his contribution to Hindi films. 

Sridevi sizzles in a white Sari: June 2006

Sridevi in a white saree looking gorgeous. Just after she'd given birth to second daughter Khushi Kapoor, Sridevi was seen in a event positively glowing. 

As you can see in the blog and many other sites, Sridevi is often seen at events with Manila Santoshi, wife of the fine film director Rajkumar Santoshi (Damini, Ghayal, and a personal favorite Andaz Apna Apna!). Not only are Sridevi and Manila friends, so are their children.

Sridevi attended the opening of the store TBZ - The Original. It was also the launch of a signature line of jewellery designed by Sunita Kapoor (wife of Anil Kapoor) at TBZ showroom at Santacruz. 

At the event, many of the Kapoor family members attended. Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor were seen greeting all the guests, family and friends. The always elegant Neetu Singh was seen chatting with Sridevi and others at the event. 

Dressed in a simple white shirt and blue jeans, Sridevi looked as beautiful as ever - when asked if she would return to films, she said she has no plans - "for now." 

The actress was last seen on the small screen two years ago in the TV show Malini Iyer. After a strong opening, the tepid TRPs killed the show after just one season.

Sridevi stuns at Filmfare Awards Nite 2006: Superstar lineup: Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Hema Malini and more

Sridevi attends Filmfare Awards 2006 with her family; husband film producer Boney Kapoor and eldest daughter Janhvi Kapoor. 

She turned a lot of heads sporting this long black evening gown. Anyone know who designed it? 

Though Sridevi looks very regal in the first few shots, the outfit itself got mixed reviews from the fashion mafia and bloggers. We think she looked fine and defo more in shape than any of her contemporaries, seniors and many of her juniors included! But then, har devi, Sridevi nahin hoti!

It was the year of the film Black, and there were no surprises that the film won ALL the major categories. 

For the Bollywood fanboy in us, it was oddly gratifying to see Sridevi present the Best Actor award to Amitabh Bachchan. Watching the two superstars on stage after their last outing decades ago in Khuda Gawah, they represent the best of Bollywood at its finest.
