Sridevi, picking up one of her four Best Actress Filmfare awards. This one, for Lamhe back in 1992. Possibly the last time an actress won an award for a film that was not considered a box-office success. Now, the 'voting' system of award shows have dramatically changed. The chances of a flop film but with a winning performance is unlikely. Hence the sub categories of Critics Awards and Popular choice and Face of the Year and ... what not. 

All Indian award shows need an overhaul; from the sponsoring to execution.

Sridevi's collection of Best Actress awards is incredible - considering she collected all these trophies when she was a teenager and in her 20s.

Sridevi in 2005. Casual chic. The awards were held in London and Sridevi arrived with her family for the Zee Cine Awards.

Shatrughan Sinha and Sridevi presented the Best Actress award that night; the ever-verbose actor turned politician heaped praises on Sridevi before the award was announced.

Released in the summer of 1988 (13 May 1988 to be exact!) Sridevi starred in and as Sherni (The Tigress!), with Shatrughan Sinha. The star cast included legend Pran, Ranjeet, Master Rinku, Tej Sapru and Lalita Pawar too -- a supporting cast of veterans. The music, composed by Kalyanji Anandji, and directed by Harmesh Malhotra.

The film was loosely (and we do mean very loosely) based on Phoolan Devi (aka Bandit Queen) and was a huge flop, but created a bit of buzz around its initial release as the movie teamed together Sridevi and Malhotra - who had earlier given the blockbuster Nagina. The movie tanked and Shekhar Kapoor took a potshot at the film later on in print - the quote came long before he directed the Oscar nominated Bandit Queen.

Oddly, the film still has its fair share of fans - including Sonakshi Sinha who has stated she's a huge fan of Sridevi, no matter what film she's in.

Sridevi in and as Sherni (1988): Title Role for Bollywood Icon

Sridevi on the sets of Sherni (1988). A Harmesh Malhotra film. Sadly, the two couldn't recreate the mystical magic of their collaboration, Nagina. We thought the film had been panned universally - but here's the surprise, there are still fans of this movie and Sridevi's performance.

We've merged two separate events where Sridevi repeated the dazzling black saree - a fan pointed out there are two events; in one she wore a string of diamonds around her neck, and the other she didn't! 

Now we don't know which event is which - but we're working on finding out!!
