The words sada chandni came to mind... Sridevi was resplendent, glorious and her glamorous best at the Mumbai premiere of English Vinglish (on Oct 4, 2012).
Looking every bit of a diva glamazon, she burnt the red carpet in a Sabyasachi white sari and maintained her luminous aura to the hilt. With a hand-embroidered Sabyasachi clutch and jewelry from Amrapali, Sridevi was the cynosure of all eyes when she greeted the long lines of fans who gathered at the fringes of the red carpet.
Mind you, just about the entire A-list of the film industry turned up to support Sridevi/Gauri Shinde/R Balki and the team of English Vinglish.
While the team of English Vinglish were there in full force, the awesome-wow-some writer/director Gauri Shinde with hubby producer R Balki, Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan came to wish them the best. Bachchan Snr's fabulous guest-appearance went down brilliantly with fans.
It was a veritable sisterhood of A-list and noted actresses, who went up to congratulate and support Sridevi; Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Bipasha Basu, Sonakshi Singha, Konkona Sen, Poonam Dhillon, Shilpa Shetty, Kangana Ranaut, Mandira Bedi and so on.
Having been Yash Chopra's muse - and favorite actress of all time - it was no surprise to see him there. The octogenarian director had tremendous praise for his leading lady and the film (clip coming soon).
Co-star of many and now brother-in-law, Anil Kapoor turned up, Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Maheep, as did director Inder Kumar, Rajkumar Hirani (of 3 Idiots and Munna Bhai films fame).
While Sridevi's kids Jhanvi and Khushi looked thrilled to be at their first premiere, for their superstar mom, it was Boney Kapoor who proved to be the film's leading champion as he said he loved the film and, "I'll see it at least 100 times!"
The most anticipated day for Sridevi fans the world over, the premiere of English Vinglish in Mumbai on Oct 4, 2012. More images and info coming soon!
