Be it on the sets of Chandni, at the launch of Teerandaz (which sadly was shelved) or the premiere of a film, the two had an easy camaraderie and mutual respect that clearly showed. Not many know that Yash Chopra had offered Sridevi several films after Chandni and Lamhe, but Sridevi had opted to stay at home while her young children were growing up. There was (unnecessary) speculation that the debacle of Lamhe at the box-office and Sridevi's steep contracts (Sridevi was the highest paid actress until her self-imposed hiatus) irked Yash Chopra - when it wasn't true at all. Yash Chopra consistently and constantly praised Sridevi, even offered her Darr (she declined!) and several other movies along the way.
Chopra told Shahrukh Khan that Sridevi was his favourite actress of ALL TIME, and he revealed that on stage at a function once (at a Zee awards show). And of course Ysshji famously told MOVIE magazine, "Madhuri and Juhi are good. Sridevi's the best." Hear. Hear.
