Have you seen Janhvi Kapoor's Mili? Sridevi's first born's acting tour de force? She's... good. Really good.
As comparisons in print rage on, kept thinking of this archival quote from "Jaanoo". Janhvi Kapoor, "It is impossible to match up to my mother's beauty or acting prowess." When she's right, she's right ya know.
Her talent has been a slow-burn. Have liked Janhvi performances in Gunjan Saxena and now... in Mili.
I understand how the title has a significance when you see the plot of the movie, but before the film's release, I did think, Mili ... as in the Jaya Bhadhuri - Amitabh Bachchan film made by 'the' Hrishikesh Mukherjee?! Ostensibly one of the most potent combos of actor and writer/director in the history of Indian cinema?! Hmm.
Anyway, completely different genre, story, vibe... Mili as an edge of the seat thriller works.
Colour us impressed.
