Released on 20 May, 1988, the unofficial remake of Sangam (same plot points and beats, but with none of the Raj Kapoor trademark polish and finesse), there was much hype for the movie with the three top stars of that decade. Ram-Avtar barely broke even while Sangam was a blockbuster and considered a classic of Hindi cinema.
