Perhaps I'm one of the few who loved Nigahein as much - if not more than its predecessor, the career-changing box-office smash that was Nagina. Sridevi was a lot heavier in Nagina, and I found the makeup and costumes a tad gaudy (especially the heavy gloss!).
By the time Nigahein released (just days before Chandni btw), Sridevi was in her polished supremacy era. Its one of her most confident performances where she completely overtakes Sunny Deol (yet again - no wonder he whined about her for decades) and she overwhelms Anupam Kher in the film.
In so many scenes, the looks of Sridevi in Nigahein was peak Indian fashion; a festival of colours in salwaars and sarees, tall, slim, elegant Sri never looked better... then Chandni came along and set the watermark so high, everyone's still trying to reach it.
