I love the article below written by MOVIE magazine on what the two leading ladies of Indian cinema have in common.
Desperately miss the writing of Dinesh Raheja and Jitendra Kothari who elevated film journalism in India. With their wry humour and perspicacity, the magazine neither deified nor lampooned the cine-artists and made it a favourite magazine among Bollywood celebrities themselves.
It was a fine balance of criticism and witicism. Great editorials, fantastic images and in-depth interviews, from the schlock of rags in the newsstands, MOVIE used to stand out.
The current incarnation published in London is a travesty on all accounts.
Still mourning the loss of MOVIE mag from its glorious heydays of the early 90s.

Both Stars…
- …started their careers in de-glamorized roles in long forgotten flops. Sri, with Solva Saawan; Madhuri with Abodh. Turned up a couple of years later with sparkling new, glam images in the commercial mainstream.
- ... are soft-spoken, diplomatic and secretive by nature.
- ... conceal iron hands within velvet gloves.
- ....both are disciplined, professional, cautious and competitive in their careers.
- ... are invaluably indebted to choreographer Saroj Khan for those turn-on top-of-the-chars number which pulls in the MTV generation.
- ... are also critically acclaimed actresses.
- … come from conservative families and yet are ready to drop their inhibitions instantly at the first sound of "Sound… lights… camera… ACTION!"
- …are smart enough to coolly calculate the importance of every man to do with their career and yet leave tit to "mummy' to maker he most major decision of their lives i.e. choosing a husband for them.
- …unanimously admire previous No:1 Hema Malini
- … ignore each others very existence. Mention the others' name and their eyes go glacially blank!
