Sridevi

 Guns ablaze...

Sridevi in Roop ki Rani Choron ka Raja.

Just after the yet-another-rain-song-and-dance routine. But it was one of the more pleasant numbers in the movie, Jaanewale zara ruk ja.

Sridevi with Sunny Deol on the sets of Chaalbaaz

Yet another rain song for Sridevi. The much talked about Kisike haath na aayegi from Chaalbaaz.

With the wet Sunny Deol, who somehow managed to keep up with Sridevi, despite being one of the worst dancers in the history of Indian cinema. Saw Jeet in the cinema back in the day and when Sunny paji was dancing to Yaara oh Yaara, the audience burst out laughing - Kiku Sharma still uses that as reference in the comedy show when he mimics Sunny. Well, they were laughing all the way to the bank as Jeet was a superhit and Chaalbaaz was a success as well.

Only in India do we need action stars to be great dancers as well! I mean, you can't imagine Sylvester Stallone or Jean Claude Van Damme cutting a rug can you?! Well, there is that lol-meme of JCVD dancing in the 80s... cringe.

Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in Roop ki Rani Choron Ka Raja

Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in Roop ki Rani Choron Ka Raja

Sridevi's n'th wet sari, rain song. Others did it before, she did it best. A hybrid of sensuality, choreography, film fashion moment... The monochrome sari in a vivid colour - Sridevi set the template and others followed suit.

Sridevi the wet centrefold from Chandni

Dripping wet in a white sari, from the underrated Aasha Bhosle song in Chandni - the only one by Aashaji in the movie.

Sridevi absolutely shines in this song.

The 1989 centrefold!

Sridevi looks sooo beautiful in this underrated song.

Rare pic: A wet Anil Kapoor and an exquisite Sridevi from the sets of Laadla

Aside from the fact Anil Kapoor looks like a wet wildebeest, and Sridevi looks so strikingly beautiful, this is one of rarest pics and most gorgeous images we've seen from the sets of Laadla. Yet another film where Sridevi dominated with her performance, she really chewed out every scene.

Anil Kapoor, 38, and Sridevi, 31. on the sets of Laadla (1994). BTW FYI, Raveena Tandon was just 22 when she shot the film with these two greats of Hindi cinema and tbh held her own in the frame.

Sridevi in Aakhari Poratam (1988)

Sridevi in Aakhari Poratam (1988)
She did soooo many of the notorious 'rain songs', drenched song and dance routines to entice the audience. She famously said in Baje Payal that they were not fun to do.

Sridevi in the Telugu hit Aakhari Poratam (1988): yet another rain song!

Sridevi mentioned rain songs were popular with audiences but were "torture" for her. She did sooooooo many iconic rain songs in her career. Trying to list them all.... one day!

Sridevi: The In-the-Rain song and dance trope

Sridevi: The In-the-Rain song and dance trope...

We tried to make a list of Sridevi's rain songs and it was too exhausting - she has done so many...

She famously said in Baaje Payal, though she did many, she never really enjoyed doing it as you couldn't hear the song, the water wasn't always clean, you'd get water in your eyes... What looked great on screen was torturous off.
