People mostly remember Judaai which released months before (February 1, 1997), but this was Sridevi's last film before she took a sabbatical for nearly 14 years!

Released with little to no fanfare, Harmesh Malhotra's Heer Ranjha was released on 4 September 1992... according to Wikipedia, but "Released on August 5, 1992" according to Tips (which released the music!). 

Either way, the film was no great shakes that we have to be fastidious about about details. There are a few things that stand out, one or two songs and Sridevi's dances and costumes, the popularity of the film astounds me as it definitely has a cult following - especially for those fond of the fable.
