Sridevi rocking the IIFA Stage: 2013

Am so blessed I've seen Sridevi perform live on stage; in Hong Kong and Macau. When she was 30 and when she was 50 something. What all these tribute dances on Indian reality TV shows reveal is the dancing aspirant's acrobatics, not the grace, charm and expressive nature of a definitive Sridevi dance. Sridevi wasn't don't circus acts on stage, she was glamorous, gorgeous and graceful. A woman in full command, what distinguished her from the girls.

Shahid Kapoor apologises to Sridevi on stage at IIFA

Shahid Kapoor apologises to Sridevi on stage at IIFA!

A bit of background; Sridevi was doing a medley of her superhit songs and Shahid was supposed to join her - he missed his cue and she was left stranded on stage for a few mins. His sincere apology and her cute response and acceptance was too lovely.

Thankfully they were both super fans of each other.

Sridevi humbly accepts Shahid's Apology on Stage: The IIFA Fiasco

As posted earlier, Shahid Kapoor goofed a bit at IIFA 2013 and didn't hit the stage on cue with Sridevi.

With much self-effacing humbleness and acknowledgement of his mistake, Shahid apologised on stage to Sridevi - and she, with that adorable grace and humility, accepted it with a gracious laugh. We heart Sridevi and Shahid for it. Both the Kapoors rock!

Shahid Kapoor fans out at Sridevi at IIFA 2013 in Macau: The stars rock the stage!

Long before English Vinglish hit the cinema, Shahid Kapoor had said at an event, on the red carpet that he was really looking forward to watching Sridevi on the big screen again. And after the film's release, he mentioned that it was one of his favourite performances of the year 2012.

Originally, Sridevi was going to do a medley with just Prabhu Deva at IIFA, but young Shahid did a surprise bit with Sridevi on stage to the tune of "Chandni oh meri Chandni".

The little skit and jig was adorable - kindly note the joyful expression on both the stars as they perform together on stage - for the first time ever. As "Sasha" said, "The dancing Devi and dancing Deva together."

As one of the best dancers in the industry today, Shahid Kapoor was amazing on stage and Sridevi was, what can we say, peerless, magical, dreamy... We'd run out of adjectives sooner than Sri would run out of expressions.

Sridevi hits the red carpet in Kaufman Franco: Bollywood legend and icon rocks IIFA 2013

So many fashion bloggers were quizing, well, we now know; Sridevi wore an off-shoulder Kaufman Franco column gown for IIFA 2013.

Ever the fashion maven, Sridevi picked yet another stunner.

Sridevi with Kamal Haasan at IIFA in Macau: Tamil legends reunite on stage:

For true connoisseurs of Indian cinema - not just B'wood - this is a moment that took our collective breath away. The finest Indian actors on stage, reuniting after years at IIFA 2013, at The Venetian Macau.

Hopefully, there's a writer of merit and director of note, topped with a producer with guts who can bring these stalwarts of cinema together again on screen. Perhaps an Indian interpretation of Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolf? Or a dramatic piece worthy of their caliber.

Dancing Diva and Dancing Deva on stage: Sridevi's IIFA 2013 Performance with Prabhu Deva

Sridevi with Prabhudeva

In an explosion of colour, music and Bollywood magic, the grand dame of Indian cinema set the stage on fire at the 14th IIFA held at the Venetian, Macau. With the ace dancer/choreographer (and now director!) Prabhudeva, the duo's mash up of vintage Sridevi songs and modern AR Rehman tracks was astounding. Ever graceful Sridevi and her myriad expressions was something else. Decked in sparkling Manish Malhotra stage outfits, Sridevi looked and performed so beautifully, with her trademark sensational self on point at all times.

Prabhu Deva mesmerising audiences with his moves is nothing new but the two, with their comedic expressions and movements were just too good. To top it all, even Shahid Kapoor joined in on the fun during a bit.
