Sridevi, 43, arriving at the red carpet of The 52nd Filmfare Awards, took place on 17 February 2007. This was a decade into her self-imposed hiatus from cinema and she looked absolutely stunning.

Sridevi wore a dual colour, gorgeously embroidered Manish Malhotra designed sari to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding reception back in Dec 2017. A look so memorable, a keen fan recreated the look in its entirety with a replica doll. With a statement necklace that went on to spur false reports that Sridevi had given the bejewelled accessory as a gift to Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. Did any of the bloggers or fashion writers bother to fact check that? As always - nope! But that newsbyte got recycled several times. One keen observer pointed out this year that though the necklace was similar, it wasn't the same! Sure, Aishwarya Rai and Sridevi were close and Sridevi was famously generous to her friends, but for Sri to gift a statement necklace of this size to a fellow top star posthumuously?! I question the mind and logic of the writer who originally wrote that fiction. But as the net has often proved, news doesn't have to be true, it just has to be viral! 

What has been reworn is of course the dazzling sari that Jhanvi Kapoor wore earlier this week at the premiere of her upcoming film Homebound. Head-to-toe, the young style icon-in-the-making looked picture perfect on the red carpet. As the (mostly self-proclaimed and otherwise unemployed) fashion critics on social media state, 10/10, no notes!

Sridevi and Radhika Apte crossed paths at IFFI back in 2017. Sridevi, queen of commercial cinema and Radhika, the actress of note in alternative cinema (for lack of better term...) met on stage. Wonder if Radhika was a fan of Sri... or just read the copy on the teleprompter... hmm. We'll ask her one day...

Alas, we didn't see Sridevi and Big B together again for one more film, guess English Vinglish's all too brief cameo will do.

Film premieres in the 1980s and early 1990s were a grand, lavish affair with press, pappz, fans galore, and often a full-industry turn out to support the film fraternity. Sridevi dolled up like the goddess and fashionista that she was. The fashion changes as the times did. Like her film career, lots of hits... and a few misses. Here are her top 11 looks from her most memorable movie premieres, starting with, above, Sridevi at the premiere 1980s blockbuster, Chandni (1989). 

Sadly, we don't have images from her Tamil/Telugu film premieres, or earlier Hindi hits like Nagina or Karma or Chaalbaaz. Or a clear image of what she wore at the premiere of Mr.India. One day, we'll archive them all as we find them. Until then, this!
