The edit is... too much. Original Sridevi was strikingly beautiful. 

Sridevi looked so elegant in this gossamer sari look in Chandni. Of the 68 or so looks she had in the movie, a young designer could do an entire collection inspired by the fashion icon who channeled the best of the 1980s in the epic Yash Chopra romance/musical.

Before Yash Raj comes at me; I've bought the Chandni VHS tape (official one), then the Laser Disc, and then the DVD. The CDs, the HMV audio cassette and, for a brief moment, the mini-disc too. I've spent more money on Chandni than any other film... And of course its now 2025 and I can't find any of the above - and have to watch the movie again, paying for it on OTT platform!

TBH hated the film, the song, the costume, the choreography, the odd placement of it in the movie, the lyrics "Darwaja khula rakhna mera yaar aa raha hai?" I mean... whattt - and that too from a noted lyricist and writer. Well, they can't all be lyrical gems i guess...

27 years of Laadla: Sridevi's iconic role from the 90s

Released on March 17, 1994, today is Laadla's 27th anniversary. Though she didn't have the title role, though it had 90s 'it' gal Raveena Tandon, though it had Anil Kapoor with the long misogynistic monologues... all people remember about that movie is Sridevi's performance. 

Its a divisive performance; some people loved it, the finger-wagging "You better Understand" definitely played to the gallery, the constant repetition of the catch phrase was popular on one hand....  On the other, its a bit OTT. Well, it's really over-the-top. In the wake of the subtle perfection of Lamhe, reviews were decidedly mixed. 

What wasn't mixed - the box-office reception; it was the seventh biggest hit of 1994.

Sridevi in Chandni. You just can't take your eyes off her in the film. Released in 1989, Designer Leena Daru dressed many actress in Bollywood for decades, but it was her simple white churidar and kurta with the leheriya dupatta for Sridevi which made her famous.The stores in Delhi's Chandni Chowk hit the jackpot with thousands of copies.

Sridevi had slimmed down tremendously by the time this film was in production - and showed off her figure in subtle, sensual way. After a series of box-office flops together, the film did well and both the fine actors were appreciated. 

A blogger and critic online had posted that the film was a Indianised  version of The Taming of The Shrew... Hmm. Ok, then!
