Some of the slight criticism Sridevi faced was that  Mehendi of Khuda Gawah was too similar to Pooja of Lamhe... We didn't see it. Mehendi had such a unique diction and stance. Have met him a few times, soft-spoken, so intelligent and so savvy, he's taken Indian fashion global in a manner that few others have. 

Although Sridevi often proclaimed Manish Malhotra was her best friend in the industry and she worked in films mostly with Neeta Lulla, some of her very best looks in classic Indian attire have mostly been done by Sabya.

There are images of Sridevi with Rishi Kapoor, with Yash Chopra at this event, this party that... we have no idea what the event was about. Some have suggested it might have been Chandni's audio release, it certainly wasn't the premiere of Chandni as the stars dressed different.

Archiving Sridevi's images with dates, or date of publication, location, reason, context has been all too important now that the legendary actress is no more. For historical accuracy.

Dazzling Sridevi in white and gold: wearing Xerxes Bhathena. Before Sabya and Manish, before Neeta, there was Xerxes Bhathena, who famously designed for Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman. He did some of the more glittering outfits for Sridevi in the 1980s too. This was the last look he created for her.

Gautam da captured Sridevi at her regal best, and MUA Mickey Contractor enhanced her iconic beauty.

Decked in ivory and gold, tall and imperial Sridevi in traditional Indian attire (take a bow Sabya!) was unbeatable. She looked like an exquisite, fragile but strong, Indian temple Goddess who came to life when she swanned into an event. 

Famously, a designer friend of hers said, when they were shopping in Italy, even though many didn't know who exactly she was, the staff of a posh hotel and store figured out that she was someone accustomed to being looked at. Was she an Asian royal in disguise of the ordinary? Was she a performer of stage and cinema going incognito? They never fully realised as the tall, shy figure disappeared before they could ask. 

Who's that girl? 

We'll never know fully. Even now.
