Sridevi costume on Indian Reality TV: The knock off versus the OG!

I don't understand why reality TV in India is so bad - and this is next level. And to do it in the guise of Sridevi's Hawa Hawaii costume! The nerve!

Ayesha Takia with Sridevi in Sur Kshetra (2012): Happy 40th to the talented Takia!

Ayesha Takia with Sridevi in the reality TV show, Sur Kshetra (2012)

Ayesha turns 40 today. A lovely, natural actress who gave it all up for marriage and motherhood, she was very good from the get go - Socha Na Tha, is such an underrated gem. And her performance in Dor is nothing short of phenomenal.

Alas box-office didn't favour her during her last few years in the industry and, after a a series of expensive flops, she left the industry. But no one remembers her flops, when people think of her, they think of what a fine performer she is and one of the most natural, gifted actresses - who should make a comeback in something good.

Hopefully, she'll agree! .

This image from Boney Kapoor produced reality TV show Sur Kshetra, where Sridevi made a surprise appearance. Ayesha is of course a famous fan of Sridevi, who appeared briefly on the show back in 2012 - afterall, the show was produced by her chubby-hubby!

Sridevi with Amitabh Bachchan in KBC: India's Who Wants to be a Millionaire was a ratings smash!

Watching Sridevi reminisce about her early days in the film industry... She was a treasure trove of experiences and information. A rich chapter of Indian cinema closed with her sudden and tragic passing.

As Indian film journalism remains a nebulous fog of information and misinformation, these rare clips straight from the mouths of celebrities themselves is the closest we have to a factual account of what happened in the glory and early days of Indian cinema.

Sigh.

Sridevi was asked to do a turn on Morni by contestants on a dance reality TV show - and she obliged.

Gorgeous Sridevi - graceful as ever.

Madhuri DIxit and Sridevi dancing together...

Jab they met...

Back in 2012, it was the definitive must-see TV; Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi meeting on screen for a reality TV show, interacting and dancing together. Pure pink magic.

Below, the imagined dance off between the two by reality tv contestants, one dressed as Sridevi, and the other Madhuri Dixit...  It was well done but... the actresses weren't as jumpy and more graceful - but a great attempt nevertheless.

When Madhuri Dixit to Sridevi's classic song from Chandni, Mere Haathon Main, with Sridevi on the dance reality show, fans swooned.
