Ranjeeth with Sridevi: A Clickbait title that's gone Viral: Ranjeet Recalls Hitting Sridevi With A Hunter, Laughing Like A Villain On Camera & Wailing

A Clickbait title that's gone Viral: Ranjeet Recalls Hitting Sridevi With A Hunter, Laughing Like A Villain On Camera & Wailing

The same title has gone viral and been used in several sites and blogs; the implication in the ways the words have been set is, Ranjeeth was crying because he hit Sridevi. That is NOT the case if you read the articles. He was weeping as his father had died - on set as the villain in the film Sherni, he had to act out a violent scene with the leading lady.

Am reminded of the film Guddi where a naïve girl confuses the on-screen villain to be a real life villain. Ranjeeth may have acted as a villain in hudnreds of films but the mostly shy and conservative Punjabi family man is nothing like his on-screen persona.

Same same but.. different! Sridevi's dance outfit and look

Sridevi's look in Gair Kanooni (L) and Farishtay (R). Similar look, location, style... probably shot around the same time...

Sridevi's so cute in the fisherwoman's dance...

Sridevi and Divya Bharti

Sridevi and Divya Bharti - the comparisons were immediate and life-long. And in death - both such shocking tragedies - they are forever linked again.

Gorgeous Indian actresses Sridevi and Divya Bharti.

Once upon a time in Bollywood, they were striding to the pinnacle until fate tripped them over.

Oh that high HIGH collar: Sridevi and Vidya Balan

Earlier today saw Vidya Balan's latest magazine cover for MW - shot by celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani - and immediately our mind reeled back to Sridevi's iconic ensemble for the title song in Naaka Bandi (1990). Awful film, great song - Sridevi is great as always.

The outfit itself... hmm. Its Grace Jones lite. If you know, you know...

Eleven Times Sridevi repeated outfits! Repeat Offender: Sridevi recycles ensembles on film!

A repeat offender?! Lol. Hardly. Long before 'woke'  fashionistas started repeating outfits ("upvote!") for a greener world and less conspicuous consumption, it was the ultimate fashion faux pas, nay, a crime for celebrities and socialites to repeat outfits - especially if they've been photographed in them.

No such an issue for Sridevi - who saved producers a lot of money by repeating looks between her south Indian and Bollywood films. Long before the internet, YouTube and Netflix, the cross pollination of movie goers was a rare occurrence (unless you were bilingual/trilingual with access to VCRs!) , Sri and the producers must have thought, this is not an issue. So Sridevi happily repeated outfits and looks over her multi-lingual flicks, the multiverses of her movies rarely intermingling.

Here are a dozen examples of Sridevi - gasp - repeating ensembles over a decade.

Sridevi and family at Akshay Marwah's wedding celebration

At Akshay Marwah's wedding celebrations, Sridevi along with her daughters Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor and husband Boney Kapoor flew down to Abu Dhabi for the wedding festivities. Here are some of the images from the sangeet.

Akshay is Sandeep and Reena Marwah's son [brother Mohit made his Bollywood debut with Fugly]. Reena Marwah (né Kapoor) is Boney, Anil and Sanjay Kapoor's only sister.

All four sported Manish Malhotra creations and have been getting plenty of twitterati love for the stunning ensembles.

For many Hindi film fans, the shot of Anil Kapoor and Sridevi - stars of much loved movies such as Lamhe and Mr India - was a special moment.  Looking better than ever, can someone for the love and cinema pls cast these superstar-actors in something decent?!

UPDATE: Sridevi's white shirt and Manish Malhotra red pattern skirt is such an elegant look. One of our all-time favs.
