Well, it does justice to neither superstar as Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi did not look like this. This fakery is trending on social media. Sadly. There will come a time in the not-so-distant future when fake viral clips and images will supercede the real. And reality. Dystopian times ahead.

Fake images of Sridevi spreading like a disease. Trying to explain to the semi-literate, how their fake pics are damaging in the long-run is like screaming to a wall hoping to end global poverty. Its trading in falsehoods and deception by pixels. You'd think as a mega fan, the AI videos and recreation of Sridevi would inspire the fan in me, but it triggers the truth seeker. Peddling in fake stories is bad enough, now the visual depiction of that is so annoying.

I'm sure fans mean well, but the increasing trend of fake pics, especially those that get more polished... is a worrying trend. A still from Sridevi in Laadla gets face-tuned and morphed with another image and this digital collage becomes a 'new' picture of Sridevi.

There are so many badly edited images of Sridevi and her family - this one had all of us burst out laughing. 

The fake hair added on, the garish colours and amplified makeup, the white filter... just the worst. 

If you're a Sridevi fan, leave her original images alone. Edits are supposed to add to, not take away from an image.

Trending on social media; the fake composite pic of Nita Ambani with Sridevi above. Fan Instagram accounts are generally notorious for not only amplifying images of Sridevi with face tune, photoshop and other app trickery, but often the captions are erroneous, the dates are wrong and the credits too. Only trust the blue tick account (ie verified accounts - but even publishing houses get basic facts wrong - cough cough Filmfare!). 

Eg as obviously fake the Sushant Singh Rajput with Sridevi was, the pic went viral, other poorly informed bloggers and social media writers have believed it to be true. 

Now this recent composite pic of Mumbai's ultimate socialite, the wealthiest Indian woman alive Nita Ambani with India's greatest actress Sridevi has been seen by thousands of Instagram-ers. The poor composite creates this alternate reality with the caption that the two were buddies. Well, there's scant evidence of that, esp as Sridevi was more often in the company of Tina Ambani (née Munim). Friendly social acquaintances for sure and Nita Ambani stated she loved English Vinglish the film, but a fan isn't the same thing as a "friend." We are the biggest fans of Sridevi - but friends? Wishful thinking! 

The only times we've seen Sridevi with Nita Ambani was at Lata Mangeshkar's audio launch and the Kapoors often attended the lavish parties the Ambanis throw; which includes hundreds of Mumbai's creme de la creme. 

As with everything on social media, take it with a pinch of salt. And eye-roll.

Events that didn't happen, people who never met, dates all muddled, facts unchecked and gone haywire... to our core we are so against fake pics for the illusion of truth it offers in lieu of truth.  

Update: 

There are Muppets on Instagram who have already re posted this believing this image actually happened. With Captions like 'last time they were all together' 'happy family together', 'red carpet together'. Um. That's not what happened!
