Mid 1980s fashion was exactly that; mid. Not a favourite era for fashion, film or music.. apart from the occasional glimmer in the coal mine. Have to state, I was not a fan of Sridevi around this time - gasp - but it was certainly no reflection on her but the kind of movies and film songs that were being produced. Loud. Everything was loud, from the shrill screaming soundtracks to the faxu diamantes to the technicolour colour combinations we saw on the big screen. WHY was everyone yelling?!
Then a certain softness came, be it in melody or rom com. Thank God.
Sridevi was defensive of the 80s, said it had its own charm. No Sri - only you had the charm. The rest was riff-raff.

What Is Happening?! Will they ever let Sridevi rest in peace?!
The Supreme Court of India issued notices to Boney Kapoor and his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, ordering status quo and directing mediation regarding a long-running land dispute in Sholinganallur, Chennai. The property involves a 2.7-acre plot along the East Coast Road.
What It Means?
Claimants (the heirs of late M.C. Chandrasekaran) filed a civil suit attempting to invalidate the 1988 sale deeds through which Sridevi, her sister, and her mother originally purchased the land. They allege the transfer was fraudulent and demand a one-fifth share. The Madras High Court previously dismissed the suit in April 2026, calling it an "abuse of process" barred by limitation since nearly 40 years had passed without challenge. However, following an appeal, the Supreme Court suggested resolving the ownership claims through a retired High Court mediator while pausing changes to the property status.
So WHY is Sridevi's Name Being Dragged into headlines?
Sridevi’s name is tied to the headlines purely because the original purchase occurred in her name via four registered sale deeds in 1988. Following her passing in 2018, Boney Kapoor transferred the title to himself and their daughters. Because the title change in 2023 triggered these legal challenges from rival claimants targeting her estate, her name- and her family's - remains central to the property title proceedings.
Key Findings from the Madras High Court Ruling
Justice T.V. Thamilselvi of the Madras High Court delivered a scathing rejection of the suit filed by Sivakami and Natarajan, ruling firmly in favor of Boney, Janhvi, and Khushi Kapoor on multiple legal counts:
Barred by Limitation: The court held that challenging a 1988 registered sale transaction in 2025—nearly 40 years later—was strictly barred by the statute of limitations.
Unbelievable Discovery Claim: The plaintiffs claimed they only "discovered" the 1988 sale transaction in 2023 during the mutation process.
The High Court rejected this assertion as legally unsustained by the record. Suppression of Material Facts: The High Court observed that the plaintiffs engaged in "deliberate suppression" by failing to disclose their previous 2007 suit, which was dismissed.
The bench characterized the litigation as a "vexatious" attempt to grab property by abusing judicial process. Lack of Locus Standi & Legitimacy Issues: The judgment noted that late M.C. Chandrasekaran never challenged the 1988 sale during his lifetime.
Furthermore, evidence indicated Chandrabhanu's marriage to Chandrasekaran occurred while his first marriage was still subsisting, meaning the claimants were not Class-1 legal heirs entitled to claim an inheritance share.

As a subeditor, it grates on my nerves when people publish photographs and pictures with the word "unseen" - well, clearly it has been seen, otherwise it wouldn't exist online. Archival images of Sridevi, and sadly, now they are all archival, were seen by many.
Even noted publications post 'unseen' photos of Sridevi when clearly they have been published in magazines from the 80s and 90s, seen by many, scanned and posted online, seen by many more...
The only thing unseen is common sense.
Ipso facto, this rarely seen picture... is not an unseen picture!
