Sridevi on the sets of Chandni

Sridevi on the sets of Chandni in a black lace/chiffon sari, with diamond accessories.

While she was a resplendent vision in white in the early part of the film, Chandni's (Sridevi's alter-ego on film - as Sridevi has said in interviews, this was the character closest to her real self) sombre mature self in the latter half was reflected in her different, milder tone, sedate wardrobe as she became a woman of the world post heart-break and heart-ache. While many remember the film for its mesmerising song and dances, the frothy romance, the glorious visuals of Switzerland, Sridevi gave one of her most dignified, mature and elegant performances in the 1989 box-office smash. The confrontation scene with Rishi Kapoor near the end is one for the history books, as both stars were absolutely faultless.
