Sridevi in Kannada films

Sridevi was a lead actress in only two Kannada films, Priya and Hennu Samsarada Kannu. In the others, she was a child artist. People assume Sridevi did more Kannada films but she didn't -they were usually dubbed Tamil films. 

I have Kannadiga friends who mentioned that of course everyone knew of Sridevi and liked her fair enough; but to say she was a top Kannada actress would be an exaggeration. In the pantheon of top Kannada actresses, who influenced the industry greatly, there are other names that top the list. But in the wake of Sridevi's tragic and untimely passing, certain, ill-informed media sources just used a broad brush to say she was a top actress all across the South--including this region when the only films she did were;

1 1974 Bhakta Kumbara

2 1974 Hennu Samsarada Kannu

3 1975        Baala Bhaaratha

4 1975        Yashodha Krishna

5 1978 Priya

Now, I'm not saying Sridevi wasn't an influential actress - our entire reason  of being is to record her vast filmography and influence on the nation, but her impact on this particular industry is limited. 

Attn all journalists, bloggers, writers, and editors. Do not just take news at face value - someone please for the love of God, fact check. Sending me a clip of Anil Kapoor stating on IIFA stage that Sridevi was the number one actress in Kannada is not just post-trauma-hyperbola, its factually incorrect. An opinion uttered on stage is not empirical truth. It is just an opinion. 

And this is not belittling the achievements of an Indian icon like Sridevi - my god, we've been online since 2000 in praise of this thespian - but circumnavigating truth and fact over fan ficiton! Well intended, but not verifiable.
