Second Take: Sridevi and her costumes for film

A double take. Sridevi strikes a pose for photographers over the years. Seen here on the sets of Karma, Chandramukhi, Kaun Sacha Kaun Jhoota, Aadmi aur Apsara and others.

TBT Sridevi with her children Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor

Here's a #ThrowbackTuesday series of pics! Superstar Sridevi as super mom to her kids Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Pilfered straight out of the Kapoor family album, we found these images on a Russian fan site!

For those wondering what kept Sridevi - once the busiest working actress in Indian cinema - away for 14 years from a film set, here's the answer. Playing the all-important part of 'Mom' to her two cherub kids.

With both children studying outside of India, the now-teenage girls have a huge following on social media (with staggering numbers on instagram and Facebook - with an equally staggering number of fake profiles and images too!). At age 13-14, Sridevi was already a lead actress in South Indian films. At age 14, Khushi is fending off 'haters' on social media, while Janhvi's posts are fueling random gossip blogs. It's a new digital age after all.

Sridevi, meanwhile, has quietly and gracefully accumulated millions of followers on her two official sites; on Twitter here and on instagram here.

12 films of Anil Kapoor and Sridevi: The Kapoors' not-so-dirty dozen! The definitive listicle!

Sridevi and Anil Kapoor have appeared in exactly a dozen films together. Some good, some great and some wise, some otherwise...

Sridevi and Anil Kapoor had a brief cameo in the film Aasman se Gira (a children's movie) but they didn't share a single frame together and were barely in it for more than a few minutes, in Karma, they were not paired opposite the other either but were in several scenes together.

Here are the definitive 12 films Anil Kapoor and Sridevi appeared in:
  1. (1986) - Karma (although Sridevi was paired with Jackie Shroff).
  2. (1987) - Mr India
  3. (1988) - Ram Avtar
  4. (1988) - Sone Pe Suhaaga (Sridevi was paired with Jeetendra)
  5. (1989) - Joshilay (Sridevi was paired with Sunny Deol in the film).
  6. (1991) - Lamhe
  7. (1992) - Heer Ranjha
  8. (1992) - Aasman se Gira (cameo by both).
  9. (1993) - Gurudev
  10. (1993) - Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja
  11. (1994) - Laadla
  12. (1996) - Mr Bechara
  13. (1997) - Judaai

Karma, Mr.India, Laadla and Judaai were hits. Heer Ranjha, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and Mr.Bechara were flops, the others did average to profit. The business aspect of show-business is key; when their movies worked, they worked together frequently, and a single flop meant both looked elsewhere. Success came and went, but their talents didn't dissipate.

Celestial Sridevi in the Telugu film Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari (1990)

Sridevi on the sets of the Telugu film Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari (1990), which was later dubbed as Aadmi aur Apsara. The supernatural fantasy flick has a huge following and it broke innumerable box-office records for the magical combo of Chiranjeevi - Sridevi - K. Raghavendra Rao.

Sridevi rockin' some early 90s fashion (well, the film was shot in 1989 but released in 1990) from the sets of Pathar Ke Insan (1990)

As usual, she looks super cute. If you go through the archives, we have a lot of images from this film. Pity, the movie wasn't much... despite a decent cast.

Note Sridevi's fondness for monochrome saris.

Airport Look: Sridevi's Understated Chic, March 2016: Stunning in white: Flick that hair Sri

Apart from the occasional miss, Sridevi's airport fashion is pretty much a hit consistently. As Indian celebrities have finally woken up to the fact that in Mumbai airport, a crew of paparazzi has set up camp, on the look-out for the constant parade of celebrity sighting at their best and worst, all stars have started to polish up their look.

For those who has traversed the arteries of exhausting Mumbai airport, how anyone comes out of it looking this radiant is beyond us, but then, not all are 'the' Sridevi.

Whether its the hair flip, the Chandni vestigial whites, the cool shades, or the casual elegance of the entire head-to-well-heeled-toe awesomeness, Sridevi nails it.

As confirmed by the cacophony of self-appointed (and self-anointed!) fashion priests and gawkers, Sridevi's look as been described as "comfort before style", while CNN-IBN scribe says, " Stunner! Sridevi nails smart-casual chic as she arrives at Mumbai airport"
