A chronological list of Sridevi's Hindi film releases in the year 1989;
The hardest working Indian actress of all-time (the above list doesn't include her Telugu film releases!), Sridevi smashed the box-office, hauled in several nominations and Best Actress wins, rounding up her first decade in Bollywood as its uncrowned Queen. She owned Bollywood in 1989 and as she shyly walked up the dais to pick up her Best Actress award for Chaalbaaz, she beat out her only competition - she herself, for her own performance in Chandni.

- Joshilaay 10 February, 1989
- Guru 24 February, 1989
- Gair Kanooni 24 March, 1989
- Nigahein 11 August, 1989
- Chandni 14 September, 1989
- Chaalbaaz 8 December, 1989

Just five years before, she made a reluctant return to Bollywood (Solva Saawan, her Hindi debut as leading lady was a huge flop in 1979) in 1983 with a smash hit Himmatwala and there was no looking back. When Filmfare called it early in 1984 that Sridevi was the obvious Number One star, the editor was given grief as Sridevi was barely 21 and hardly spoke Hindi. She proved him right tho'!
