After working with Amitabh Bachchan as a newcomer to Bollywood in Inquilaab (1984) and Aakhri Raasta (1986), Sridevi's unprecedented success at the box office empowered her well enough to reject roles offered by Bollywood film-producers - when her part/role was merely ornamental in the film. At a time when her contemporaries were cutting their salaries, shifting dates to accommodate the biggest star in India (till date), the great Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi famously rejected offers to play a part in his films. She gave self-assured quotes to film magazines (most famously "What's there to do as an actress in a Bachchan film?) and didn't budge an inch until the proposal was tempting.

It took a fat paycheck and a double role to bring together the titans of the Hindi film industry... And it all started with pre-publicity stills for Khuda Gawah, shot in Dec 1990, and originally published in g magazine in January 1991!
The photoshoot - by Rakesh Shreshta - went viral and was covered - literally on the cover of - several film magazines; Filmfare, g magazine, Mayapuri among several others.
