In the international, art house and theatre circuit, is there anyone else with more nominations and wins than Mz Azmi? Easily one of the most respected dramatic actresses of her time and generation.
When it comes to acting styles or the way they approached the art form, Shabana Azmi and Sridevi were such polar opposites... and yet, both great at what they did in their respective manner and field.
Sridevi worked with Smita Patil - Azmi's contemporary and rival (google! we aren't expanding on that) but she never worked with Shabana on any film project - though both admired each other and said so in print.
