During the last few years of her life, Sridevi often relied on the curated sartorial selections of the well-informed stylist Eshaa Amiin (follow her on Instagram here). Young Eshaa brought with her savvy selects of new designers, new labels and a novelty to suit the stature and vintage of the legendary actress.
Unlike her seniors or contemporaries, Sridevi was neither in the worst-dressed list nor was she boring and safe. She experimented with great success her western attire while her Indian options were impeccable as always. As we go through fashion blogs dedicated to Sridevi, say in High Heel Confidential or Femina or Vogue India, its a smorgasbord of colours, cuts, shapes...
Sri otherwise oscillated only between Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and on occasion, Neeta Lulla. Nothing wrong with that, but.. there was a hint of predictability when Sri first came out of self-imposed retirement. Rumour has it, upon the suggestion of Sonam Kapoor, Sri adopted stylists to perfect head-to-toe looks. Eshaa brought different silhouettes, gave opportunities to new-on-the-horizon labels - all who would benefit from the star-power and wattage of the fashion icon. Her reflected glory fell on new designers - and the world noticed. Sridevi was wearing Anita Dongre before royalty was, Sri was wearing Anamika Khanna, Dolly J Studio before they became fashion household names.
The above video is just some of Sridevi in the last chapter of her rich life.
