Sridevi has mentioned in interviews that remakes are a headache and often the original is better than its later incarnations (eg Moondram Pirai versus Sadma). However, many feel Vazhvy Maayam was a more polished performance of Sridevi's than the Telugu original. Perhaps, knowing all the beats and where her footprints led, Sridevi exuded more confidence and know-how.
