Sridevi in Nagina (1986)

Legend has it the Hindi film Sherni started production before Nagina did but the film was originally shelved. Producer and director Harmesh Malhotra  completed Nagina first which went on to become one of the biggest hits of 1986, consolidating Sridevi's position as the definitive leading lady and female superstar of Bollywood. 

Buoyed by the unprecedented success of the blockbuster, Malhotra thought Sridevi could do no wrong; he picked up the pieces and completed Sherni. Alas the Malhotra - Devi collab could never repeat the success, despite several attempts and other films.
