TBT: Throwback to early media excerpts about Sridevi's arrival in Bollywood in the early 1980s.

Is Sridevi slowly developing the nakhras that successful Hindi film stars have? It would appear that success has gone to her head. She now demands that her assistant and make-up man be given airfare so that they can always be with her. She also insists that they be given identical five-star food that she is given. This is democratic no doubt but producers are beginning to complain that it is easy for Sridevi to be democratic on someone else's expense.

The success of Kaam Chor has given Raakesh Roshan the inspiration to go ahead with his next film. He has signed the same director, K. Vishwanath (of Shankrabharanam fame) for a film which is based on Vishwanath's original hit, Saptapadi (Telugu). He has had prolonged discussion on the subject which is very controversial and very hard hitting and now all is set. Raakesh will play a brahmin, Sridevi a brahmin beauty and Mithun Chakraborty a harijan. Raakesh signed Sridevi at a time when not many Bombay producers wanted her. "She was very happy with her role and she never talked about the money. She was thrilled to know that she would be directed by K. Vishwanath," Raakesh says. Sridevi is now asking exorbitant price from other producers... and getting it.
