Sridevi looks magnificent, regal, imperious, powerful, the true blue superstar of Bollywood. The pose, her expression, the sheaths of embroidered fabric, her dazzling accessories, the overall elegance, the high gloss styling... are barely worthy of her stature as India's leading lady. The portrait captures Sridevi at the zenith of her pan-Indian superstar status, but, but, but... its fake. Well, its been digitally enhanced to a vertical portrait by some new app or program and I'm unfamiliar with. Digicanva? AI PhotoEdit? Who knows?
As images, clips of Indian stars altered trend online, soon many won't be able to tell the real from the fake pic. And its a loss to all. Those who haven't realised it - give it time. You'll see.
The original, 'real' photos were taken by the late great Gautam Rajadhyaksha for Cine Blitz magazine
back in August 1992. Sridevi was 29 and totally owned her space in the pantheon of great film legends. An actor and star like no other before or after.
