Of the 20 films above, 11 were blockbusters. For years, Sridevi and Rajinikanth appeared in two films a year on average. One worked, the other didn't - for whatever reason. As its been often said about what the Indian public wants, expects and likes from a film is as unpredictable as ever. A horrific film like Farishtay was despite near-universal bad reviews, the movie more than recuperated its budget. Adhutha Varisu, where Sridevi is superb in a transformative performance, barely recovered it high cost of film production. As the box-office figures reveal, every hit or flop is a matter of... ah, go figure!
