Nervous Sridevi almost trips at Neeta Lulla's show

Bollywood actress Sridevi, who walked the ramp for ace designer Neeta Lulla as the show stopper at the Lakme Fashion Week, came across as very nervous and saved herself twice from falling flat on the ramp.


The beautiful actress, who was sporting a silverish-grey body-fitting gown made an impressive entry on the ramp but soon her nervousness came to the fore as she was found struggling with the train of her dress.

However, the actress still found the experience of walking the ramp quite pleasant. 'It was great but at the same time very hard for me,' she told reporters here.

The designer was elated too and revealed: 'It was fantastic that on my 25th anniversary Sridevi walked the ramp and so many people actually made it to the show.'

When asked about the actress' nervousness, Lulla clarified: 'As far as I think, it happens some times when you walk the ramp after a long time.'

Lulla's show, which showcased a collection inspired by the repository of work done by her over the last 25 years in both pret as well as couture, boasted of Bollywood celebrities like Rani Mukherji, Hema Malini, Yash Chopra, Mugdha Godse, Tabu, Juhi Chawla and Amisha Patel, among others.

Actors Akshay Kumar, Rannvijay and director Vipul Shah also came down to attend the show in a retro avatar to promote their forthcoming film 'Action Replayy'. The film also stars Aishwarya Rai and is slated to hit screens Nov 5.

'I really enjoyed the show. Till this Diwali, I will come only in retro look. I don't think any look has been as good as of the 1970s,' Akshay said.

As far as the collection goes, the ensembles were a mix of western and Indian designs in a deluge of colours including beige, silver, yellow, orange, green, blue, pink, lilac and red.

Embellishments and Swarovski crystals were also used to marl the silver jubilee of the brand.


SRIDEVI ON A TRIP





Walking on the ramp after a very long time and that too in a body hugging gown with a long tail trailing behind, Bollywood actress Sridevi almost came close to tripping twice on the ramp during fashion designer Neeta Lulla’s show at Lakme Fashion Week, 2010.

Sridevi was the showstopper for the show that marked Lulla’s 25th anniversary and she was visibly nervous while sashaying the ramp in the mermaid-ish silver-grey gown. She fluffed twice but maintained her composure and completed her ramp walk without tripping.

Asked about Sridevi’s nervousness, Lulla said: “As far as I think, it happens sometimes when you walk the ramp after a long time.”

However, Lulla didn’t make a big deal out of it and said she was very happy that Sridevi walked the ramp for her.

“It was fantastic that on my 25th anniversary Sridevi walked the ramp and so many people actually made it to the show,” she said.

Sridevi too admitted that walking on the ramp was hard for her.

“It was great but at the same time very hard for me,” she said.


NEETA LULLA’S SILVER JUBILEE SHOW BROUGHT BOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR ON THE CATWALK AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2010





Opening the spectacular silver jubilee show of top Bollywood designer Neeta Lulla, was well known singer Mansi Scott crooning the number “Defying Gravity” from the popular musical “Wicked” and dedicated it to the success of Bollywood’s award winning designer.

Celebrating her silver jubilee in the business of fashion, the very glamorous and talented Neeta, one of Bollywood’s favourite designers was inspired by her wide spectrum of work over the two decades as she unveiled a powerful glamorous collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010 on the final day.

Playing with colours and bringing in a scintillating fusion of the east and west into her garments, Neeta maintained her characteristic touch. Style and substance was seen in abundance as stunning bridal ensembles with nude lining, rich embellishments on garments with glittering Swarovski crystals proved that the designer was keen on unleashing large doses of opulence on the ramp. The pre-stitched sari now reinvented by Neeta into a form fitting version will be a hot seller with Indians as well as foreign buyers.

Colours were vibrant yellow, orange, turquoise, blue, mauve, flame red, gold and emerald green. Using 3D rosettes as the main detailing Neeta had them cascading from shoulders, gowns, saris and even as garlands around the neck.

The fabrics were rich silks, satin, chiffon, net and crepe all moulded into figure hugging and sexy creations. Presenting each style in different colours with subtle differences, the show was a quick ultra dazzling line of dramatic creations.


Pleating appeared on mini dresses, on yokes of lehengas and the bodice of one shoulder gowns. Cholis were tiny and encrusted with crystals, while kurtas and kurtis were dramatic with asymmetric swirling hemlines. They were teamed with long skirts, Turkish pants or draped salwars. The net lehenga/sari combos draped over silver churidars glittered with crystal motifs. Impressive silver head pieces were the final touch for the spectacular ensembles.




The show stopper was the beauteous Bollywood star Sridevi in a sensational silver will-power fish tail gown bringing to end a fantastic show.

For glitz glamour and style Neeta Lulla’s Winter/Festive 2010 Silver Jubilee line at Lakmé Fashion Week will be a sure best seller for her in the coming season.
