Sridevi, Sunny Deol and Rajinikanth in Chaalbaaz (1989)

Sridevi's sensational double-act in Chaalbaaz (1989). Wonder if Sridevi has done more double roles than any other actress in Indian cinema? Chaalbaaz, Lamhe, Nigahein, Khuda Gawah, Gurudev, Guru... And that's not even counting the regional films where she had more double-roles... Hmm. Possibly.

When you have the amount of talent Sridevi does, a single role just doesn't seem enough!

BTW the whacky costumes seen here of Sridevi as Manju were deliberately wild and psychedelic, badly constructed with cheap fabric - completely opposite to the simple sari-clad Anju. Er... or was it the other way around? Anyhoo, crazy fun. Sridevi thought her looks through for each part.

Love this hodge-podge of a movie. Unlike many films from the 1980s, this movie has aged well and is worth repeat viewing. Sridevi simply outshines her co-stars like no other (much to the chagrin of the vocal Sunny Deol).

Many current actresses have stated that Sridevi lit up the screen like no other and this performance based role has legions of fans among actresses of all ages. Be it Kareena Kapoor, Kajol or Katrina Kaif any of the new gen starlets.
