One of the better films of the 1980s in Bollywood. Sridevi's a marvel in the film.
In fact, everyone acts really well in this sensitive social drama, Jaag Utha Insaan.
Mithun, Rakesh Roshan, Sridevi, the director K Vishwanath... all were sensational.
Legend has it, Sridevi slashed her price and gave preferred treatment to the film because she really wanted to work with legendary Telugu director K. Vishwanath - who worked with all the top South Indian actresses of the time and gave they all sensational roles to perform in. True to his style, Sridevi had fantastic scenes interspersed throughout the film - that she gave full justice to - including a sensational and expressive tandav, done exclusively to musical beats with no vocals.
