The original cast had Sridevi and Sunny Deol, and the director was famed cinematographer Manmohan Singh (who famously shot Sridevi so beautifully in Chandni)...

When the project got shelved, Sridevi spoke to Filmfare about it in an interview. She said....
Filmfare: Whatever happened to cameraman-director Manmohan Singh’s Teerandaaz in which you’ve been cast opposite Sunny Deol?
Sridevi: None of us was quite happy with the subject, so we’re trying to improve on it. That’ll perhaps take another couple of months and only then will the project get going."
