Sridevi and Anupam Kher in Laadla (1994)

Sridevi on the sets of Laadla (1994) with her frequent co-star Anupam Kher. The two acted in several films together, perhaps most memorably in Lamhe, where they both won awards for their respective roles.

This Indianised version of The Taming of the Shrew (kinda!) was yet another tour-de-force by Sridevi as the powerhouse boss lady. The ending will make every feminist cringe but the movie is nothing without Sri's performance...

Her chic look was awesome in the movie.

The most anticipated film of 2012: English Vinglish

English Vinglish: Nearly a decade and a half since Judaai, Sridevi makes her comeback. Discounting her special appearance in Halla Bol (2008), English Vinglish sees her as a protagonist struggling against hardships after her husband dies in the movie, which set in the US. Balki, director of Cheeni Kum and Paa, takes a backseat as the producer overseeing the directorial debut of his wife Gauri Shinde.

Sridevi and family head to Anil Kapoor's Birthday Bash, 2011

In the wake of Mission Impossible 4's superb opening at the box-office, Anil Kapoor celebrated with a grand birthday bash that saw the A-list of Bollywood attend. The titular star of Mr.India turns 55, though he looks decades younger.

Eldest brother, producer Boney Kapoor, was there of course, with his gorgeous wife Sridevi in tow, along with their lovely daughter, Janhavi. Though the Kapoors have vehemently denied all reports on Janhvi's launch in any film (Tamil, Telugu or otherwise), persistent rumours and false reports by a ludicrous online media have not quietened down. Bets are already on that Sridevi's daughter is bound to make an entry in films in due course. With her incredible pedigree, the young, confident and stylish Kapoor is already turning heads and is a staple in many a fashion blog. Does she have any of the natural gifts her superstar mother does is yet to be seen.

While its still far too early to see the youngling on screen, the world is waiting with baited breath for the return of Sridevi as English Vinglish is just around the corner. Sridevi, stunning as ever, has always been an actress of great caliber but with pre-reports that she's making a comeback in a contemporary comedy, produced by the talented R Balki and directed by Gauri Shinde (who also has the honour of being Sridevi's first female director), fans are ready to queue up at the soonest to watch the return of the last true-blue screen queen.

Famous fan: Alisha Baig, "Sridevi is my idol"

Newcomer Alisha Baig joins the long list of famous fans who state on record they're in awe of iconic Indian actress Sridevi.

Excerpt from an interview:

Alisha Baig isn't new to the camera, she has been comfortable and ease with it since she was a six months old baby. "My first film was with Govinda and Meenakshi Seshadri as a baby and then a four year old as Sridevi's and Anil Kapoor's daughter in Judaai, as a 12 year old in Lara Dutta's movie Andaaz and then as Sanjay Dutt's daughter in Zinda," says Alisha from Mumbai.

With such credentials why did she chose Telugu as a launch for a heroine's role? Alisha says the scripts in Hindi weren't exciting.

Her favourite idol is Sridevi, she says Sri is a picture of patience. When she couldn't get her lines right Sridevi had to give five or six takes for Alisha baby in Judaai. "She understood we were kids and never complained about re-doing it so many times."

Honour to be Sridevi's Husband says Adil Hussain: The cast of English Vinglish comes together

Actor Adil Hussain, who appears in the films Life of Pi, English Vinglish and Bombay's Most Wanted, Agent Vinod among others, is about to enter another stratosphere of fame as he stars with India's greatest leading actresses Tabu, Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor and the legendary Sridevi.

An actor of repute, he himself seems smitten by the stunning Sridevi. "...there is English Vinglish with Sridevi. "I play a stupid Indian husband in the film. Without wanting to say a cliche, I'll still add that it was an honour to work with Sridevi and play her husband," he adds."

Rare pics from the sets of English Vinglish: Sridevi! Amitabh Bachchan!! Behind the scenes

Circa 1993, Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi came together for Mukul Anand's magnum opus Khuda Gawah. 18 years later, the actors reunited at the Pune airport for Gauri Shinde's highly anticipated film English Vinglish, a film that marks the comeback of Sridevi to Hindi cinema after a long hiatus.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has been roped in for a cameo in the film, arrived at 10 am in his luxury sedan and entered the vanity van. Dressed for the shot, the actor rushed inside the airport. The shoot wrapped up around 3pm with only a short lunch break in the middle.

Once outside, Amitabh was surrounded by security guards. Boney Kapoor was waiting for him outside the vanity van. Sridevi joined the two men soon enough.

About the shoot, Bachchan tweeted: Shooting today with the effervescent Sri Devi after eternity almost .. for R Balki's wife's directed film English Winglish. Sri Devi still the same .. spontaneous and lovely ..!! Gauri, R Balki's wife .. directing film .. woman power at peak .. my second experience .. eventually women will take over the world !

Around 100 foreign artistes, mostly sporting the American Customs and Immigration Department blue suits were seen having lunch. When Pune Mirror tried to speak to a few of them, most of them were tightlipped and politely refused to comment.

Stunning Sridevi at the engagement of nephew Avishek Karthik: Dec 2011

Sari-clad Sridevi at the engagement of her nephew Avishek Karthik. Looking stunning as always, escorted by husband Boney Kapoor.

Her cousin Avishek Karthik and his fiancé Ruchika Kalra held a dinner party at a plush hotel where Sridevi arrived looking absolutely gorgeous.

We got a note from a fashionista that the clutch Sri's got is from Alexander McQueen, Sridevi mixing traditional print sari with modern accessories.

Looking so beautiful, rumours of a comeback are floating in the air - but sadly with no official statement from Sridevi or Boney Kapoor.

So far...

CCL Curtain Raiser 2011: Stunning Sridevi arrives with Boney Kapoor

In a silver-grey pant-suit with her hair pulled back, bedecked in white-gold accessories and with a designer clutch at hand, the ever-gorgeous Sridevi attended the CCL curtain raiser in style and stilettos.

Despite the presence of the superstars of the cricket field (the other religion India follows!), it was indeed screen Goddess Sridevi who was the cynosure of all eyes. Initially, she was hesitant to come on the dais but on the request of singer Sonu Nigam, but she hit the stage for a brief greeting. The

sensational singer, Nigam, said, " "I'd also like to request one of the most beautiful and versatile and respected Bollywood actresses ever, Srideviji to join us." Sridevi shyly complied and wished her team well.

Bengal Tigers team is owned by film producer Boney Kapoor, captained by Jeet.
