Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborthy on the sets of Jaag Utha Insaan (1984). An excellent film, apart from Sri's stellar performance, she has gorgeous semi-classical dances in the movie. Well, Bollywood-ised classical dances, and she's splendid in them, despite having repeatedly stated that she had no formal training in dance.
Rakesh Roshan - Hrithik Roshan's father - produced this wonderful movie and also stars in it. One of Sridevi's better films from the 1980s, the film touches on how the caste system has ruined lives, the tragic love story of a Harijan boy falling in love with a Brahmin girl.
Girl? Nay Goddess! Worth watching. Hugely underrated movie as it didn't do well in the box-office compared to the mega-hits Sridevi did that same year. The 1980s were a strange time, good movies often didn't do well, fun frothy ones - which that weren't great cinema - made huge sums of money. Go figure.
