Sridevi with Shatrughan Sinha in Sherni (1988): Bollywood icon dominated the title role

Released in the summer of 1988 (13 May 1988 to be exact!) Sridevi starred in and as Sherni (The Tigress!), with Shatrughan Sinha. The starcast included legend Pran, Ranjeet, Master Rinku, Tej Sapru and Lalita Pawar too. The music, composed by Kalyanji Anandji, and directed by Harmesh Malhotra.

The film was loosely (and we do mean very loosely) based on Phoolan Devi (aka Bandit Queen) and was a huge flop, but created a bit of buzz around its initial release as the movie teamed together Sridevi and Malhotra - who had earlier given the blockbuster Nagina. The movie tanked and Shekhar Kapoor took a potshot at the film later on in print - the quote came long before he directed the Oscar nominated Bandit Queen.

Oddly, the film still has its fair share of fans - including Sonakshi Singha who has stated she's a huge fan of Sridevi, no matter what film she's in.

UPDATE: Below Sridevi with Shatrughan Singha over the years - in 1988 and 2013.
