During the cold war, most Hollywood films were banned in Russia - however the largest film producing country in the world - India - faced no barricade as Bollywood, particularly dubbed Hindi films, continuously released across the region.
We have had a fan club online since memory serves - and were always amazed at the volume of fans we had from Russia. Russian fans seem to have an entire archive of Sridevi images, magazines, info from the 1980s in particular - and they send us better scans, correct information (dates, captions etc!) about Sridevi with alarming accuracy.
As Sridevi arrived on stage after an epic introduction, the reception she had proved that she's truly the finest ambassador of Indian cinema. Looking regal in red, Sridevi wowed her foreign fan contingency and waved that royal wave to remind one and all, for once and for all, she was the uncrowned Queen of Bollywood.
