Hmm. Let's see.

Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit on the cover

Comiparisons are odious and the Indian media sure as hell played up the paper rivalry between the two even though both ladies have been nothing but polite and respectful from beginning till the tragic end....

Sridevi at the Lux Golden Rose Awards: TBT

Sridevi honoured over the years - and now Janhvi follows suit.

Sridevi as Pallavi owning her scenes in Lamhe

Ever seen a powerhouse performer elevate and seemingly simple scene to meta-levels?! Sridevi as Pallavi in the dramatic, confessional scene in Lamhe. It starts off so simple and sweet and reaches a whopping crescendo. Sridevi was all of 27 that year and in fine, flawless form. There are several moments in fact in Lamhe where the actress goes far beyond the scope of the average Hindi film heroine.

Mithun and Sridevi in Jaag Utha Insan

Released in the summer of 1984, Jaag Utha Insan is one of the better films of Sridevi from the 1980s. Sri looks like, dances like a dream in the movie - and she's a picture of grace throughout the film. Watch it.

Chubby cheeks: Sridevi so cute!

Even at her heaviest - which was for about two years - Sridevi looked adorable. If not drop dead gorgeous still. She discovered yoga, tennis, dieting post second baby and during her last decade, she was possibly the fittest she had ever been. And yet, many remember the curvy Sridevi fondly. She was perfect as she was.

The 80s fashion... well, she could pull it off. No one else could!

Sridevi's first Hindi film: Solva Saawan

Solva Saawan came and went with the wind. However, Sridevi remained forever. Seen here in her debut Hindi film, Solva Saawan.

Sridevi Matchboxes

Oh ya, fan art didn't begin or end with online fans. Sridevi's visage was plastered on collectable matchboxes in the early 1980s - whether she knew it or not, whether she liked it or not! Hardcore Sridevi fans have been around forever. Now we just have a digital platform for it!

27 Years of Lamhe: Sridevi and Anil Kapoor's finest hours

Was a fan of Sridevi since 1990 - diehard mega fan after Lamhe. It was a seismic shift from (well at that time Rekha!) to Sri. What a performance. What a movie!
