BTW many directors in the past tried to get these two ladies together for a film - someone even manged to shoot a few scenes; Ramesh 'Sholay' Sippy canned a few shots of Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit together in the film Zameen, that sadly got shelved. (Not due to them, but other circumstances!).
There were rumours that a Hindi remake of All about Eve was in the offing, choreographer Saroj Khan briefly mentioned she would get them together for her directorial venture (which sadly never went beyond the mag talk sessions), Yash Chopra had a few ideas too... all came to naught. But when Sridevi made (the definitive comeback of all comebacks) her return to screen after her self-imposed near-15 year hiatus, she joined the pre publicity bandwagon and chose to appear in the popular TV show where la Dixit was a judge. It was glorious!
Sridevi went up to greet Madhuri Dixit's parents too (as shown). Unlike some of their fans - I'm sorry to state - both ladies were ever-graceful, generous with praise to the other and remained polite and respectful while talking about the other. Magazines created several paper wars but when you sift through the interviews and features and lock down on their actual quotes, you can see that they never said anything controversial. They were just the best... Sigh...
