Though this was Urmila's first film after her star-making vehicle Rangeela, Sri stole the show in Judaai. Critics (the ones who've gone out of favour years ago - while Sri attained legend status) had their moment with asinine comments about Sri's weight and age in the film when, get this, Sridevi was only 34 in the movie, looked sensational and over-the-top (as the role of a nouveau-riche social climber demanded) and not a single note was off in her comedic take as the greedy housewife Kajal.
Released on Feb 28, 1997, the film was a huge hit, the soundtrack did spectacularly well and Sridevi picked up three Best Actress nominations from various awarding bodies (Zee, Screen and Filmfare).
Styled by Manish Malhotra, these images are from a quirky little scene that had the audience laughing it up as Sri walked down a staircase holding a walk-man, dog and decked in a glittering ensemble. Though she was supposed to look ridiculous, Sri still managed to look great!
