In an archival feature in Cine Blitz, photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha travelled to Madras (before it became Chennai!) and spent some time with Sridevi and her family. He did a long shoot and feature on Sridevi and saw 'the other Sridevi'. Childlike, talkative, at peace. She revealed to him, this was where she was happiest. The above portrait was a spread in the magazine that captured Sridevi unfiltered.
In the seismic, devastating, untimely death of Sridevi, after her body was cremated, the remaining members of Sridevi's family had the heart-breaking task of taking the urn with her ashes back to the sea, for immersion off Rameswaram on March 3, 2018.
Sridevi returned to where she found nirvana.
RIP Sridevi - we miss you like you won't believe.
